Manufactured on 3rd July 1963, left-hand drive chassis number ‘879769’ was despatched to famous German Jaguar dealer and racer, Peter Lindner. The E-Type then found its way home to the UK in the 1980’s before undergoing meticulous restoration and conversion work by a renowned marque specialist who uprated almost every aspect of the car to ensure that it would be one of the most competitive examples.

Finished in Silver with a works-style hardtop and complementary silver peg drive alloy wheels. The interior features a full roll cage and competition bucket seat (a 2nd seat was fitted in June 2021). No aspect of the car was disregarded during the restoration with the car being stripped to its bare shell. Works were completed in 1996 and estimated to have cost ~ £100,000 (invoices and photographic record on file).

The car was then raced for around five years between 1996 – 2001 before being put up for auction in December 2001. It was then purchased by a gentleman who loved Historic GT racing and in particular the Lightweight E-types. He never raced the E-type, as he did not have a race licence, and even after one had been obtained the car was used primarily for track days or for testing days to assess any improvements he made to it. The car was track tested at Brands Hatch where he made changes to the exhaust system to comply with the noise regulations.

In 2011, the owner decided that it would be more economical to drive to tracks instead of paying for transportation. He set about making the E-Type road legal and the car was duly registered with the DVLA to gain Historic Classic Car status. The car passed its MoT in August 2011, but having purchased a car trailer the owner decided not to continue with annual MoTs. An engineer by trade, he enjoyed working on the E-Type more than driving it, and would spend hours maintaining and improving the car to keep it in perfect running order.

Our beautiful E-Type is perfect for all sorts of use such as Historic Club Racing, Historic Rally Car events, Track and Road to name a few.

The E-Type remains as popular as ever in the GT class for historic racing making this a wonderful purchase for any lover of Historic GT cars.
